Kids In Distress (KID) is a nationally accredited agency dedicated to the prevention of child abuse, the preservation of the family, and the treatment of abused and neglected children. Founded in 1979, KID started as a shelter for abused and neglected children. During its 40 operational years, KID has grown to include two campuses in Broward County, and a foster care office in Palm Beach County, and in January of 2019, acquired Family Central, Inc. (FCI) which provides comprehensive family strengthening, early learning, a child care food program, and educational training services in South Florida. KID offers a well-integrated system of care staffed with clinical professionals who tenaciously strive to encourage, educate, empower, and equip children and families with the proper tools to ensure a safe and stronger community.
