Medewell Medical Clinic

Program Proposal: Gynecological Procedures

THE MEDICAL CENTRE

Medewell is a non-governmental, non-political, non-religious organisation registered in 2001. It aims to assist the community in providing basic needs to the underprivileged in 3 areas: medicine, education, and water wells.

Medewell has its headquarters in Dar es Salam and mainly works within the Kibaha district. The organisation works very closely with local communities and enjoys a cordial relationship with the local agencies. With more than 15 years’ experience in ProjectManagement, Medewell is currently focusing on providing affordable healthcare services for the needy, the poor, and the vulnerable.

REPRODUCTIVE AND CHILD HEALTH (RCH) DEPARTMENT

The RCH department is one of the most valued services we provide to the community. All RCH services including PMCT (Preventing Mother to Child Transmission) are provided free of charge while other services to pregnant women and children under the age of five are highly subsidized. This includes subsidized consultation fees to see a gynecologist for all pregnant women and doctor consultations for children under five attending the clinic. All subsidies are irrespective of background.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

The Medewell Medical Centre currently requires financial support in subsidising the first phase of gynaecological medical procedures.

THE VISION

Medewell’s Motto is Huruma – Huduma – Heshma meaning Apathy – Service – Respect and upholding human dignity
Medewell runs a twenty-four hours service providing basic primary healthcare, RCH (Reproductive & Child Health), diagnostic laboratory, pharmacy and other specialized services.

THE NEED

Medewell have planned with their Gynaecologist to initially perform two surgeries per week on his operating days. This process will then be reviewed depending on the turnout of patients where they will aim to incorporate four surgeries per week. The Gynaecologic department under the consultant is picking up pace rapidly, and they anticipate they will serve about 250 patients requiring various surgeries.
